Eats Marikina: Pan de Amerikana Bakery & Restaurant: 1950's Famous Pandesal Shop

Pan de Amerikana is a restaurant you might want to check out if you're searching for a "klasik pinoy" atmosphere and meal.

Pan de Amerikana’s origins started with baker and architect Dionisio Salvador Sr., who baked and sold wheat pandesal mostly to Americans in the 1950s. It wasn’t until 2005 that his son, Jundio, would expand the bakery into a restaurant in Marikina. ​

Pan de Amerikana Bakery & Restaurant (Pan de Amerikana) is the only place where you can have a taste of 1950s Filipino bread—its famous wheat pandesal and giant ensaymada, among other baked goods and Filipino comfort food. Additionally, birthday celebrants and reunions are big fans of this cozy, Instagrammable garden restaurant that serves as an event space.

​The Eugene Torre Chess Museum, named for the living chess icon who became the first Asian and Filipino Grandmaster, is also located there.

This place is so aesthetic, and the ambiance is charming. From old photographs of Philippine personalities to old vintage items to nature vibes from its artificial garden.

I loved these types of chandeliers with different colors of lights.

This land rover is the iconic upside-down one parked in front of their Katipunan branch, but sadly, it has been closed since last year.
