Mapishi Food House: The Authentic Swahili Cuisine From Tanzania

Authentic Tanzanian cuisine is within your reach. Mapishi is a Swahili term that means "cooking."

Sometimes it's nice to try something different.

You don't need to travel to Africa if you are craving authentic Swahili cuisine from Tanzania (a Country in East Africa), because there is also a restaurant in the Philippines that serves African Cuisine.

Actually, it's my first time trying African Cuisine. I am not really a fan of anything with spices, but as part of the experience of living in this world, why don't I try to taste other dishes?

I visited their Project 8 branch because it was just along the way to our house. I'm just not sure if this is their main branch.

Karibuni is a Swahili word meaning welcome." Anyone who visits their restaurant is really welcome.

Also, a beautiful Bible verse will welcome you. This reminder brings a smile and a blessing, and indeed, God will not abandon anyone who does not forget Him.

The place is clean and cozy. A good venue for a small group of people. They also have a small conference room on the second floor if you need private discussions, meetings, or events. The only problem I see is the parking space, which only seems to fit two or three cars. But the rest is okay because you can walk in and don't need a reservation.

If you can visit here, try getting a seat on the low table with mats on the floor for a more authentic experience.

Just some of their interior design really has African vibes.

Hakuna Matata means no worries for the rest of your days. Worrying doesn't improve the future; it only ruins the present. Stop worrying and make wise decisions.

They also have an al fresco area if you don't want to be inside the restaurant itself.

Mtindi (Swahili yoghurt). To be honest, I'm not even a fan of yogurt. I'm not sure if it has something else mixed in it, but you can taste the sourness at the end.

Their chicken biryani is definitely a winner for my taste. The chicken meat is also tender. The shorba (biryani gravy) is also perfect for biryani rice. Shorba recipe made with onions, tomatoes, spices, and herbs It is one of the best vegetable side gravies for biryani, pulao, or any flavored rice dish.

Here are just some of their dishes that you can try: Maybe if I can come back here, the next thing I will try is their Pilau, Chapati, Ugali Samaki, Ugali Firigisi, and above all, their Kahawa (coffee).
